Wednesday, 17 July, 2013
In the July issue of the spanish magazine Vinos y Restaurantes, the well-known journalist Ramón Francàs published a report about the wine tourism in the Priorat region and he talked about the Hotel-Hostal Sport as an outstanding place to stay

Under the title "Priorat, from neglect to Mecca", Ramon Francàs does a journey through the economic and tourist evolution of Priorat and highlights the increasing growth in the number of wine tourism activities that can be done in the area. Ramon Francàs writes in the report that Priorat is a unique destination for nature lovers and particularly, of the viticulture.

Francàs also highlights the wide range of events organized throughout the year in different villages of Priorat. Although the Wine trade fair of Falset is the most important, another activities like Nights of Wine in Torroja del Priorat, the Tasting in Porrera or other activities around the Castell del Vi of Falset occupy a site increasingly relevant in the calendar of events of Priorat.

Ramon Francàs not forget the importance of appellations of origin in the region, being the DOQ Priorat the only qualified in Catalonia and one of only two recognized with this stamp in Spain along with the Rioja.

Despite the economic downturn, Francàs asserts that the DOQ Priorat wineries have continued to grow during 2012 selling more than 4 million bottles, up 8% on 2011, while the wineries in the DO Montsant exceeded 5 million bottles, being the third best season since his career.

If one thing is clear is that the Priorat is a region that lives dunk with the wine world and the potential of wine tourism. In fact,  in the report Ramon Francàs says that its wine tourism offer is one of the most varied and interesting of Catalonia.

Francàs also writes about the gastronomy of the region, from traditional cuisine to author cuisine, and the range of accommodation, highlighting the Hotel-Hostal Sport, among others.
